TUESDAY 6th TO SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER 2026
Having enjoyed a wonderful tour to the Etna region of Sicily in October 2025 we will this year be visiting the Western side of the Island. Sicily has diverse winemaking regions and wonderful scenery.
We will be based in the lovely town of Trapani and we will include a visit to the well- preserved Doric Temple of Segesta as well as visiting six wineries. We will taste a range of wines including the famous sweet wines from Marsala produced from Grillo, Inzolia, Catarratto, Damaschino grapes amongst others.
Outline itinerary
Tuesday 6th October 2026
The tour is designed to link up with the British Airways flight BA618 from Heathrow which is scheduled to arrive at Palermo airport at 11:20. We will meet in the arrivals hall and then head off to our first visit at Fuedo Disisa for a winery visit, tasting and lunch.
We will then head to Trapani to check in at our hotel, the boutique Hotel Azzoli. The evening is at leisure and there are many restaurants in Trapani and we will supply a list of recommendations.
Wednesday 7th October 2026
After breakfast we will head towards Stagnone where we visit Saline Genna, a producer of local salt, and then transfer to Cantina De Bartoli for a visit and tasting. We will then transfer to the centre of Marsala for lunch at “Trattoria Da Pino”. After a little free time in Marsala we visit Cantine Florio for their “Marsala Experience”.
We then head back to our hotel in Trapani for a free evening.
Thursday 8th October 2026
Today after breakfast we will be heading for Segesta for a half day tour with local guide at the Temple and Theatre of Segesta. Comfortable shoes recommended.
We will visit Baglio Soria for a visit, wine tasting and lunch. We then take the cable car up to Erice for a visit with our guide who will show us the sights and the Duomo and we will enjoy a biscuit tasting at Mamma Gramatica.
We then head back to our hotel in Trapani for a free evening.
Friday 9th October 2026
After breakfast we head for Mazzaro del Vallo with a local guide before moving on to Gorghi Tondi for a visit, wine tasting and lunch. Our afternoon visit is to Funaro in the Belice Valley and taste their wines including their Metodo Classico
We then return to the hotel for a “farewell dinner” at a local restaurant in Trapani.
Saturday 10th October 2026
Sadly, after an early breakfast we will leave the hotel to travel back to Palermo airport in good time to connect with the British Airways flight BA619 which departs at 11:55 and arrives back at Heathrow at 14:05 local time.
