Red wines forever! Slow down, look around and enjoy the hospitality of the winegrowers of the Szekszárd and Villány wine regions! Come to the southernmost wine growing areas of Hungary and meet the winemakers of these estates.
Try the best Mediterranean style red wines and the fruity, fresh whites. The wines of Villány and Szekszárd are amongst the most highly rated throughout the country, appreciated both by wine professionals and wine lovers.

Wednesday 2nd July 2025, Budapest
Budapest is a beautiful city situated on the River Danube. There are many flight options from European cities to Budapest and the choice is left to you to suit your own convenience.
Make your own way to our Budapest Hotel the Zenit Budapest Palace which is wonderfully situated by the river Danube. After time for a rest we will meet in the evening to have a food and wine pairing dinner to introduce the wines of Hungary.
Thursday 3rd July 2025, Szekszard
We leave Budapest in the morning and head south to a unique cellar-row village, the largest in Europe, located near Hájos, where the loess surface differentiates it from the areas along the Danube. It is like a stand-alone town, with over a thousand cellars and press houses, demonstrating the former wealth of its wine culture. We will stroll among the cellars, tasting some wines and enjoying a traditional homemade lunch before travelling to Szekszárd. If time permits before we head to Szekszárd we will pay a short visit to a Paprika manufacture and learn about the most typical Hungarian spice. Later in the afternoon we check-in to our hotel, have a little time for relaxation before our winery visit, wine tasting and dinner in Szekszárd.
Friday 4th July 2025, Szekszard to Villany
After check-out we visit the most iconic winemaker of the Szekszárd Wine Region, Mr. Zoltán Heimann, who was awarded “Winemaker of the winemakers” in 2023. We learn about the Kadarka and Kékfrankos varieties. We then drive to “Tuscany” to visit an exceptional wine estate near Szekszárd owned by Marqesi Antinori . We have a local 2 course lunch after the wine tasting in the winery then after lunch we depart to Palotabozsok and visit one of the most famous barrel manufactures in the country, where we learn about the barrel making process.
We travel on to Villány, and check-in at a winery owned hotel. Villány is a wine region located in the southern part of Hungary, and is well-known for its long-established wine traditions, high quality red wines and easily accessible cellars.
We meet in the evening at a “Wine Chapel”, in one of the most impressive cellars of the region. The visit of the circular cellar is an exceptional adventure. Dinner with a selection of wines is served at the winery’s restaurant and we stay overnight in Villány.
Saturday 5th July 2025, Villany
We will spend our whole day in the Villány wine region. The region produces predominantly red wines, such as Cabernet Franc, under the Villányi Franc brandname, but some nice whites have also appeared in the market recently.
We start the day by visiting one of the most prominent wine estates in Hungary and taste wines at the Vylyan Winery). Besides making prestige wines, the winery also organises local festivals and sponsors art-related events. We will then visit a winery in Kisjakabfalva, located in a Swabian house. We will visit the cellar, taste their wines and have a cold lunch in the winery.
Heading back to Villány, we take a jeep or tractor ride to one of the famous vineyards, the Ördögárok.
We return to the hotel for some relaxation and in the evening enjoy a wine paired dinner in one of the top wineries of Villány.
Sunday 6th July 2025, Departure
After breakfast we leave our hotel for the transfer back to Budapest Airport.
