Join us on a wine and sightseeing tour to the beautiful Istria region of Croatia ideally suited for couples. This region is situated in close proximity to the sea and the vineyards benefit from a maritime climate with countryside very much reminiscent of that of Tuscany. Rolling hills, hill top villages and a relaxed way of life.
The wineries are situated in historical villages surrounded by untouched nature, food is mostly obtained from small local producers, cooked with traditional recipes. Olive oil production features strongly in the region and Istria has won many awards for its Olive oil as well as well as several tourism awards. The beach regions further to the south have become extremely popular for summer holidays and part of the coastline is renowned for sailing.
Crisp whites feature strongly in the area with Malvasia being vinified in a variety of styles and for reds there is the indigenous Teran grape which is used to make some really interesting wines. Several international grape varieties are also grown here leading to diverse range of tastes and styles and the charm is many of the wines cannot be found elsewhere.
We will be staying in the luxury Villa Stancija Cocci situated close to the small town of Brtonigla. With individually designed en-suite rooms this 200 year old property benefits from a pool and outdoor covered dining area overlooking a scenic olive farm. There are several cosy nooks to create space to relax and unwind with or without the group throughout the tour.
We will be visiting several wineries each with its own setting ranging from the Benvenuti winery which forms a part of its village itself to the Kozlović winery, a modern architecture winery and cellar based on top of the hill with sweeping vineyard views.
There is little doubt that once you have sampled the delights of what Croatia has on offer you will want to come back for more!

We then join our transport and travel onwards to check in to our Villa with a little time to relax whilst a barbeque feast is being prepared by our hosts where we will taste local produce and a range of Croatian wines from various regions.
Day 2 – Friday 10th May 2019
